You don't have to be an angler to raise one.
For Parents, Grandparents, and Mentors
A step-by-step guide from a licensed fishing guide who has taught more than 2,500 kids to fish.
Foreword by Al Lindner: “When he (Brad)told me he was planning to write a book and would I take a look at it, naturally I said yes, send it to me. Wow, I was blown away; it was excellent.”
“Every angler I know got hooked because somebody took the time to take them fishing. Brad’s book shows parents exactly how to be that person. This is one I’d hand to any new fishing family”
Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson, 2023 Bassmaster Classic Champion
“You need to read this book! If you’re teaching your kids to fish, the neighbor kids, or every kid in the county — you need to read this book!”
— Jimmy Houston, “America’s Favorite Fisherman”
“I’ve been fishing with Brad and my son, and I’ve seen firsthand his ability to help kids catch fish while keeping the whole experience fun and exciting… Whether you’re an experienced angler or barely know how to tie a hook, Brad will help you make memories with your kids.”
— Taylor Calmus, “Dude Dad”

I've spent 50 years on the water. My favorite part is still a kid's first fish.
It started for me at a farm pond in Iowa, with someone patient enough to show me how. Today I'm a licensed fishing guide and outfitter, and I've taught more than 2,500 kids to fish through programs like Camp Fish and Fish Tech, and helped build Colorado's angler education program.
I've fished at the top level of tournament walleye fishing. But the trips I remember most are with first-timers, when a kid looks up at me with a fish in their hands and a grin they can't hold back. I wrote Hook, Line & Kids so you can give your kid that moment yourself, even if you've never held a rod.
